On 23 November 2023, the Belarusian State Academy of Arts in Minsk hosted a master class of film historian Alexander Grigorievich Semenyuk entitled "The Changing World Map Affects Cinema".

In his report he emphasised that cinema reflects the world picture in much greater completeness than any other art, it has a superlanguage.

He told about the main mistakes of modern film industry figures. "Cinema is the most technological art"(A. G. Semenyuk). In cinema one should not copy reality, the author should convey the artistic meaning. "The main trouble of today's cinema, especially documentary cinema, is its reportage"(A.G. Semenyuk)

(A.G. Semenyuk ). He spoke about the difference between journalism, which operates with facts, and cinema, which operates with images. According to him, publicism brings journalism and art closer together, but it cannot unite them at all.

He appealed to film-makers: "You don't need to copy reality, you need to create an image of reality." Many filmmakers do not see the hidden meanings in literary works, so most stories seem fantastic to them. According to A.G. Semenyuk Soviet cinema was better, not actors became untalented, but the era changed.

He expressed his point of view on religion: "Any culture is fundamentally religious, there are no non-religious cultures. Whoever has not read the Bible, the road to art is closed to him. He told about artistic images of Russian and foreign literature, linking literature with religion.

The film historian answered the audience's questions, and the audience thanked him in return for his rich presentation with a great applause.
